For the Columbia Skating Club’s delightful performance of The Nutcracker on Ice, this Clara Party Scene dress was created using our classic Nutcracker Costume Style 701. Designed to meet the unique needs of an ice skating production, the dress was crafted in a lovely combination of Lotus Pink and Spice silk—an unexpected yet graceful pairing that made the costume both charming and distinctive. The warm, rosy tones of Lotus Pink set a soft, romantic mood, while the deeper Spice hue added richness and warmth, capturing the spirit of the holiday season beautifully.

To better suit the movement and flow required for skating, the customer requested a change to the dress’s back closure, opting for a simple row of buttons rather than the traditional adjustable design. This allowed for a secure, streamlined fit that would remain comfortable and in place during the performance while maintaining the timeless silhouette of Style 701. The simplified back also provided a neat, polished look that kept the focus on the dress’s lovely colors and graceful design.

The Lotus Pink silk bodice offered a delicate and youthful look, ideal for Clara’s character, while the Spice-colored sash tied neatly around the waist added a rich contrast that grounded the design. This warm-toned sash provided just the right amount of definition to the silhouette, highlighting Clara’s presence in the Party Scene without overwhelming the gentle, elegant nature of the costume.
