When Morgan contacted me, a former California gal, she told me that she now lived in Italy, that her wedding would be in Tuscany, and have 9 girls in a fairly big size range, and "Oh, by the way - do you mind looking at my gown because I would really love to interpret some of the embroideries and flowers going on with my gown." I fell in love with the colors she had going on and of course her wedding gown (it had taken seamstresses several months to do the embroidery and they still had a few more months to go).
It was at least two months before I realized the this utterly amazing wedding gown was, in fact, designed by Morgan herself. Morgan was just that humble. Trust me when I say this, in all my years of being in the wedding business, I have never seen such a magnificent gown - and loved it even more than mine! (Mine was designed by Elizabeth Emanuel, , the same designer that did Princess Diana's dress, so it was hard to top.) Anyhow, after a long Skype conversation, I came up with a dress that I thought would be perfect. The hardest part was replicating the feeling of the flower embroidery of Morgan's wedding dress without the months (and expense) of the handwork. Knowing Morgan was going for a Tuscany look, "like a 15th c. painting", I pulled some of my favorite flowers together, sent swatches to Italy and waited for the decision. After colors were chosen, we ordered Swarovski crystal in the AB combination so that they would look iridescent as the center of each of the flower hydrangea petals for each of the nine dresses. One little toddler, never made it down the aisle and that color was Steel Blue - the other colors were Baby Pink, Peach, Periwinkle, Sage Green, Canyon Pink, Autum Rust, Eggplant and Raisin. We had a blast working on these dresses, and each was layered with multiple colors of tulle so the skirts had color movement as the dresses moved. Standard Ballet length was used except for the Jr. Bridesmaids (veil holders) whose dresses were to the floor. Matching American Doll dresses were made for six of the girls.
